Unless you have been sequestered in a cave underground for the past year, you already know that Brack Obama is running for President of the United States in this year’s election.

Obama was born on August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii, the child of an American mother and a Kenyan father.  He graduated from Columbia University in 1983 with a B.A. in political science.  Choosing to work in the public service for several years before law school, Obama helped the city of Chicago by working as a community organizer.  He entered Harvard Law School in 1988 and gained attention by becoming the first African-American ever to serve as the president of the Harvard Law Review. Obama graduated magna cum laude from Harvard in 1991.

After law school, Obama worked both in the public , private and academic sectors before entering politics in 1996.  He first served for the State of Illinois, and then in 2004 was elected to the U.S. Senate.  Chosen to give the keynote speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, Obama roused the crowd with his trademark smile and candid enthusiasm.

Obama is currently running for president as a Democrat, facing off on the same side against Hillary Clinton.
